Hesco barrier, also known as Hesco bastion, Hesco defense wall, and welded gabion wall. It is a mobile defensive structure used for military and humanitarian protection. It is widely used in war zones, disaster areas, flood control, and various situations requiring the rapid deployment of protective facilities.
Composed of collapsible welded wire mesh frames and non-woven geotextile fabric, units are expanded and connected using provided connectors; they can be quickly deployed on any terrain with minimal manpower and common equipment. Once deployed, they are filled with soil, clay, sand, stones, and other materials to form a continuous defensive barrier, functioning like a defensive wall and bunker. For military purposes, a 24-inch thick gabion Hesco bastion can block rifle bullets, artillery fragments, and other shrapnel. In terms of flood control, Hesco bastions can be assembled and put into use at the fastest speed.
This product was invented and designed by the British company HESCO and was quickly accepted by military and emergency response departments around the world, becoming a well-known fast and effective protection solution.
Dongfu provides Chinese-made Hesco barriers. We use heavy-duty hot-dip galvanized steel welded mesh, lined with high-quality non-woven geotextile fabric, strictly by HESCO standards, offering stock inventory and custom services in various sizes.
The fundamental structure of the Hesco barrier consists of a galvanized wire mesh frame and a heavy-duty non-woven geotextile lining. These protective units can be interconnected through connecting pins or clips, forming a continuous protective wall or defensive fortification.
The frame is made of high-strength galvanized steel wire welded together, offering exceptional strength and durability. Also known as gabion basket/gabion box.
It can be folded when not in use or transported, and unfolded when deployed, making it very flexible.

Hesco bastions are used for the complete wall of a small military base.
Is hesco bastion only for military use? No, Hesco Bastion demonstrates its versatility as a flexible and efficient protection system. Whether in the military, disaster prevention, infrastructure protection or border security, Hesco Bastion offers reliable and efficient solutions.
Usually, we pre-assemble the finished hesco bastions before packaging and shipping them, so you can deploy them directly by unfolding upon receipt without the need for assembly.
1. Assemble the finished product first
2. Then pack and ship
We can also ship them without assembly to save on shipping space and reduce transportation costs.
A Hesco Bastion can be filled with a variety of materials, including soil, sand and gravel, crushed stone, and more. These materials can be selected based on site conditions and protection requirements.
From Hesco website: “The type of fill material used in the construction walls significantly impacts the wall’s protective performance. Generally speaking, an ideal fill material is a sand/gravel mix. This material has good construction characteristics, but more importantly, it offers a high level of protection and is almost free from secondary fragmentation.”
The specific number of personnel required depends on the scale and complexity of the project.
From Hesco website: “Two people using appropriate material handling equipment can construct a 10-meter long wall with one MIL 1 unit in less than 20 minutes.”
A filled Hesco Bastion has extremely high impact resistance and blast protection capabilities, effectively withstanding various attacks such as artillery fire, bombs, small arms fire, and shock waves.
Yes, Hesco Bastions can be reused. If the Hesco bastion barriers you deploy have not suffered significant damage, they can be redeployed in future projects after proper disassembly and storage, further enhancing cost-effectiveness.
Hesco Bastion, made with high-strength galvanized steel wire and durable non-woven fabric materials, can last for decades with proper maintenance and care.
Hesco Bastion has a low maintenance requirement. Regularly check if the filling material has obvious settlement or damage, and replenish or repair in time.
Hesco Bastion is designed to withstand a variety of extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, cold, humidity, and dry environments. Its high-strength materials and structure ensure that it can maintain stable performance under harsh conditions.
Yes, Hesco Bastions are widely used as flood walls, debris flow protection, and other natural disaster defenses. Their rapid deployment and high strength make them excellent in dealing with natural disasters.
The materials and manufacturing processes used by Hesco Bastion comply with environmental standards, and its filling materials are usually natural soil or sand and gravel, which have a relatively small impact on the environment. The units can also be reused after use, reducing the generation of waste.
The production process involves the welding of galvanized wire mesh frames, cutting and sewing of non-woven fabric liners, and the final assembly. Each step is subject to strict quality control to ensure the product’s high strength and durability.
Yes, Hesco Bastion can be folded into a compact shape, making it convenient for transportation and storage. In the unfilled state, the unit occupies less space, making it easy to stack and carry.
We produce strictly according to the HESCO quality standards, and we also provide customers with products of higher quality than HESCO, such as hot-dip galvanized coatings with higher zinc content and thicker non-woven geotextiles.
Cost, the biggest advantage of being made in China is cost; the HESCO bastion we provide has a lower cost than HESCO while ensuring quality.
